Nestle eyes 19% export growth of milk products

- Marianne V. Go -
Nestle Philippines is projecting a 19 percent growth in export of infant and filled milk powder this year as a result of rising demand for infant nutrition products from the ASEAN market.

According to the food conglomerate, exports are expected to reach $63 million or equivalent to 30,000 metric tons of milk powder this year from its factories in Cabuyao, Laguna and Cagayan de Oro.

Nestle’s milk power products account for 55 percent to 60 percent of the company’s total sales. Its shipments of milk powder are also expected to make up the bulk of the firm’s projected revenue of $92 million for this year.

The Cabuyao factory, which is Nestle’s largest manufacturing facility in the country, produces 66 percent of the milk powder products for exports.

Nestle said that production in its Cabuyao plant is now in full swing to meet the increasing demand for infant nutrition products from the ASEAN market.

The Nestle Cabuyao and Cagayan de Oro factories serve as the group’s ASEAN supply center for infant nutrition and filled milk power.

The two factories export milk powder to other ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand under the brand names Lactogen and Everyday.

Aside from milk powder, Nestle also exports breakfast cereals manufactured in its Lipa factory.

The breakfast cereals are exported to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Other Nestle products for export are the Maggi food line and cooking aids, Cerelac, rice flakes, Nestle Pure Life, Nestle Cream, Nestea iced tea, and Nestle ice cream.

These products are exported to the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East.

Nestle confectionery products sold under the Nestle and Goya brands are exported to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Fiji, Dubai and Singapore.
