SAP, Nokia team up on WAP tech

SAP Philippines managing director Carol Carreon has announced a global technology cooperation pact with Nokia, the global leader in mobile phones, to provide easy "data on the fly" deployment of handheld Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)-enabled devices with the mySAP.com Mobile Workplace.

"Users across the enterprise will be able to access mySAP.com solutions with handheld devices and mobile phones providing wireless information management," Carreon said.

She said WAP technology expands the possibilities for customers and partners of SAP in developing Mini Apps for the mySAP.com Mobile Workplace.

SAP will also utilize Nokia's WAP technology with mySAP.com solutions for Customer Relationship Management, Business Intelligence and Strategic Enterprise Management.

"Nokia's WAP Server is the most widely used WAP server technology. Interfacing the widely accepted and prevalent Nokia WAP technology with mySAP.com solutions will enable millions of users to access the update enterprise information online from a WAP-enabled mobile device," Carreon said.

Based on Nokia WAP technology such as the Nokia WAP Server and Nokia 7110 Series WAP-enabled phones, Nokia and SAP will provide initial solutions to their mutual enterprise customers via mySAP.com.

Users of the Nokia 7110 or any other WAP-compatible phones will have full access to valuable enterprises information from mySAP.com solutions and other sources such as news feeds, stock quotes and e-commerce business directories.
