MANILA, Philippines —  Indigenous communities as well as an Aeta ancestral burial ground will not be displaced by the proposed 1,600-hectare Pax Silica project in Capas, Tarlac, President Marcos said on Tuesday.

Marcos was reacting to reports that the project would displace a majority of local communities, particularly indigenous peoples’ groups.

Capas Mayor Roseller Rodrigiez said that burial sites are sacred to indigenous peoples.

“We are sensitive about such cultural concerns and those are very much part of the discussions. That’s not something that people should worry about,” Marcos said.

Pax Silica is a US-led initiative that aims to build secure, resilient and non-coercive supply chains for artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
