Teeth’s 1990s classic vinyl release sold out in 1 day
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino rock band Teeth has thanked fans after the limited-edition vinyl pressing of its self-titled debut album sold out in less than a day, underscoring the enduring appeal of one of the defining records of the country’s 1990s alternative rock scene.
Only 500 copies of the vinyl release were made available, with the album remastered by award-winning mastering engineer Shinji Tanaka.
Guitarist Jerome Velasco expressed his gratitude to the band’s longtime followers and a new generation of listeners who embraced the album in its analog format.
“For our longtime fans, we hope the moment the needle drops feel like a total time machine. And for the new generation hearing these tracks on analog for the first time, we hope they feel all the raw heart, sweat, and unfiltered energy of the ’90s,” Velasco said.
The demand for their vinyl release also caught the band by surprise.
Drummer Mike Dizon described the quick sellout as an important milestone for Teeth, particularly as physical music formats make a comeback among collectors and younger music fans.
“Selling out in nearly a day after the announcement is an important accomplishment for the group,” Dizon said.
With the initial batch gone, the band is now looking into a possible re-press ahead of its upcoming reunion shows.
“Reordering is easy, but the tricky part is getting the go signal from the mother label, Warner, to allow us to reprint a small batch more,” Dizon explained.
“The great news is we’re already working on it, and we hope to have new stocks available in time for our reunion shows,” he added.
5-city tour
The vinyl release comes ahead of Teeth’s five-city tour, which will take the band to four Philippine cities and Singapore beginning at the end of August.
Dubbed "Year 33: Teeth The Reunion – Legacy Tour," the concert series opens on August 30 at the Foochow Event Building Hall in Singapore before heading to the Philippines for stops in Manila (September 5), Davao (September 12), Iloilo (September 19), and Cebu (September 26).
The band emerged during the explosion of the Philippine alternative rock scene in the 1990s and became one of the movement’s most influential acts.
Decades after its original release, the self-titled debut album continues to resonate with fans — now giving longtime followers an opportunity to revisit its music on vinyl while introducing its raw ’90s sound to a new generation.
