It is always a pleasure talking to Small Laude, who recently appeared on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” for the first time. She is a social media superstar and one of the hottest vloggers in the country today. But for me, she is a dear friend.

Small has just celebrated her birthday with a simple dinner with her family, close friends and siblings. She shared the difference in how she celebrates the special occasion, from when she was not yet famous to now that she’s one of the influencers in the country.

“Gusto ko bongga iyong celebration ko dati noong hindi ako sikat. I want all the attention sa birthday ko. Gusto ko bongga. But now, parang gusto ko, simple lang with close friends and my family.” Small said she is no longer into material things but likes to travel and spend more time with her family.

Small revealed during our conversation that she once tried to send her bio-data to German “Kuya Germs” Moreno because she hoped to become one of the female hosts of “GMA Supershow.”

“Kasi naka-gown every week. I like that,” she said.

Although she wasn’t able to fulfill her dream of joining showbiz at that time, another opportunity came in 2022 when she did a cameo appearance on GMA 7’s drama series “Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters.” She recalled her experience, “That was a three-day shoot, pero I did two days lang kasi napagod ako the next day. Sabi ko, ibahin na lang iyong script kasi I was supposed to have a massage and spa with Aiko Melendez on the third day. So, parang na-kansel na lang iyong spa namin.”

It is inevitable that sometimes Small will be linked to controversies as she rose to fame. How does she handle controversies?

“I just stay calm kahit sometimes, no. Calm and focused. Sometimes I don’t pay attention to it. Parang it does not deserve any reactions or response iyong mga rumors,” she answered.

She addressed the issue involving her husband, Philip, in the flood control corruption scandal. She vehemently denied the allegation.

“That person involved is a friend of Philip. It was 2018 or 2019 when they decided to go on a business. But when the friend decided to run for politics, they agreed not to continue with the business. And they closed that company. So, wala talagang negosyong nangyari. Ay, ewan ko nga, Tito Boy, bakit naiintriga iyong flood control. Sobrang no.”

Their family issued a statement through Divina Law in January.

Small said money is very important. So, she can live comfortably and give anything to her kids. Does she spoil them?

“Yeah, to a fault, and Philip is angry with that when I spoil them,” said she.

According to Small, she will be shocked if one of her kids will approach her one day to say that he is getting married. “Kasi parang baby pa sila, eh. For me, they’re like a baby. Parang di ko alam na they are growing na pala.”

She also shared her thoughts on pre-nuptial agreements and whether she will allow her kids to tie the knot without having one. “Whatever they agreed with their partners, I’m on it. But nowadays, pre-nups, they really do it. For transparency, but it’s not about protecting your assets from each other. It’s about love and trust. From the start, dapat klaro na, di ba? It’s better to be clear and transparent,” she explained.

I asked her at the end of the interview what she knows about love right now. Small said love is being patient, understanding and respectful. What should women know about men?

“Dapat alam nila na mahal sila talaga ng lalaki and bubuhayin sila talaga,” she replied.
