MANILA, Philippines — South Korean stars IU and Lee Jong Suk have confirmed that they have ended their romantic relationship, bringing their four-year romance to a close.

In a report by Soompi, the confirmation came through IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment and Lee Jong Suk’s agency Ace Factory, which said the two have decided to part ways amicably and remain supportive of each other as colleagues.

IU and Lee first made their relationship public in late 2022 after reports linked the pair following a vacation together. Their agencies subsequently confirmed that the award-winning singer-actress and actor were dating, drawing widespread support from fans.

Throughout their relationship, both stars largely kept their personal lives private, making only occasional public references to one another while continuing to focus on their individual careers.

Although the couple has decided to go their separate ways, their agencies emphasized that the breakup was mutual and asked fans to continue supporting both artists as they move forward.

IU, one of South Korea's most successful solo artists, has also built an acclaimed acting career through projects such as "Hotel Del Luna," "Broker" and "When Life Gives You Tangerines." Lee, meanwhile, is known for his roles in hit dramas including "School 2013," "Pinocchio," "W," "While You Were Sleeping" and "Big Mouth."

Neither IU nor Lee Jong Suk disclosed further details regarding the reason for their breakup, choosing instead to keep the matter private.
