Maris Racal happy for ex Rico Blanco's first acting award

MANILA, Philippines — Exes Maris Racal and Rico Blanco picked up acting awards at last Sunday's Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors’ (SPEEd) 9th EDDYS in Pasay City.
The annual awards night of The EDDYS took place last July 5 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.
Maris was named Best Actress for her lead portrayal in “Sunshine,” while Rico was named Best Supporting Actor for “Manila’s Finest” tied with Will Ashley of “Bar Boys: After School.”
The OPM rock icon got a little emotional when he accepted his trophy because it was the first time he won an acting award.
The singer-songwriter and now award-winning actor expressed his gratitude to the entire production of their film, especially to his co-actors led by Piolo Pascual and Enrique Gil.
“It’s my first time to be nominated in the film industry. So this means a lot to me. Bago lang po ako dito and yet…na-nominate pa lang masaya na ako tapos nanalo pa po. Maraming salamat po!” Rico said.
Reports stated that Maris said she was happy with her ex-boyfriend's acting award. In fact, Maris revealed that Rico wanted to pursue acting as a career.
“I’m very happy for him. Nakakatuwa dahil matagal niyang na gusto umarte. And now he has an award for it. I am genuinely happy for him,” she said.
