Kim Seon-ho feels ‘healed’ at Manila fan meet

Kim Seon-ho found comfort and healing during his recent fan meeting in Manila, especially after reading the heartfelt messages from his fans, affectionately known as Seonhohadas.
The South Korean actor returned to the Philippines for his “Love Factory” Fan Meet, held last Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and presented by Ovation Productions.
That night, he took on the role of a “factory manager” inside the “love factory” and successfully completed all the tasks in each segment for his “valued customers.”
During the first part of the program, titled “Password,” host Sam Oh asked Seon-ho to strike various adorable poses, including giving a hug, squishing his cheeks and taking on the smile challenge, all of which earned loud cheers from the crowd.
In the “Reception Area” segment, he shared a series of selfies and acted out different scenarios presented to him, displaying his versatility as an actor. He even shed real tears when asked to reenact emotional scenes from his dramas and films. He also impressed the fans by reciting the Tagalog line from his film “The Childe”: “Hoy, pre. Ngumiti ka naman diyan. Hindi ka mamamatay. Akong bahala sa’yo.”
He further charmed the audience by speaking Tagalog phrases when prompted to act out scenarios in which he was terrified while watching a horror movie and had been shot. He delivered lines such as, “Gusto mo, ibibigay ko ang buhay ko” and “Natatakot ako.”
Seon-ho was also asked to choose which type of person he would fall in love with — a sentimental literary writer or a fearless rockstar. He chose the former, explaining through a translator, “When you think of a literary writer, you imagine someone very detailed and I like that kind of personality. As for the rockstar, I’m not really good at singing,” though he still sang a few bars anyway.
To bring both personalities to life, he wore eyeglasses and held a book to portray the literary writer, then switched to a leather jacket and a guitar to embody the rockstar persona. His rockstar look, in particular, drew loud cheers from the crowd.
At some points, the “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” star got distracted by a fan’s scream, making him quip, as translated in English and Tagalog, “Why are you shouting? I forgot what I’m about to say,” as well as, “Yung sigaw mo ngayon, napakaganda ng timing mo. Pero yung sigaw mo talaga kanina hindi ko talaga ma-gets. Ibibilin ko na sa’yo ha, alam mo na yung timing.”
In one instance, he called the attention of a fan who briefly left her seat and then went back, telling her, “It’s OK, you’re back.”
After a short break, Seon-ho came back to the stage, still looking fresh in a white long-sleeved outfit.
In the final segment, called “Materials Storage,” the “factory manager” needed to complete four missions to retrieve missing four-leaf clovers. The concept was inspired by his rom-com series “Can This Love Be Translated?,” opposite Go Youn-jung, in which they see the aurora borealis after searching for four-leaf clovers.
Seon-ho showed his childlike demeanor and playful side when he took on the tumbang preso challenge, guessed items in the “What’s in the Box” challenge and joined the Boom Shakalaka challenge.
He also transformed into a Harry Potter-style wizard as he put on his props — the robe, glasses and magic wand — and mouthed the incantation “Wingardium Leviosa.”
He then took a selfie with the crowd and sat onstage while watching videos and reading touching messages from fans, with Maki’s song Kahel Na Langit playing in the background. He was teary-eyed and emotional as he went through the messages, soaking in the moment.
“I’m very thankful and I feel so good right now,” he said afterward. “I feel really good every time I see that I’ve become a motivation for other people. All of us have difficulties in life but I feel so thankful that through me, you guys were able to overcome those difficulties. I, myself, were able to overcome my difficulties. Thanks to all of you who are here tonight. Mahal kita.”
Seon-ho described the fan meet as “very fun.”
“I myself was able to receive healing from you guys as I go back. And also thank you to our host. Originally I should have sung a song. But because of the schedule of my fan meeting and due to my condition, I wasn’t able to prepare a song for you guys. I did my best,” he continued.
Confetti rained down as he thanked the audience, saying: “Thanks to you guys, I’m always living a festival. And I hope your festival continues on. So I’m still at the festival right now.”
Toward the end, he delighted fans even more by announcing that he is currently filming a new drama.
“Thanks to you guys I will be able to shoot this drama even better. So thank you for spending this time with me and I hope this time tonight can be engraved deep inside your hearts and be remembered by you ‘cause it will be remembered by me. Mahal ko kayo.”
He made a heart gesture before exiting the stage, while the fans’ screams continued to echo.
