Heart Evangelista discovers the fun side of Pinoy opinions

MANILA, Philippines — She’s known as an actress, visual artist, fashion icon and reality show host. But starting tonight at 6:15 on GMA 7 and Kapuso Stream, Heart Evangelista wears the hat of a game show host for “The People Have Spoken.”
It’s a new entertainment territory that the multi-hyphenate creative embarks on.
“Ah, noong pinresent sa akin ‘yung concept (when the concept was presented to me), it was a no-brainer,” said Heart in a recent presscon, also attended by her co-host, Sparkle GMA young artist and actor Sean Lucas, “because it’s something that you can interact with people on the show and the people watching. Endless kasi ‘yung topics niyan, eh (the topics are wide and endless).”
“So, hindi lang siya ‘yung parang trivia (it’s not the usual trivia show),” added she. “Parang dito, parang walang maling sagot (it’s like on the show, there are no wrong answers), but may dahilan kung bakit ‘yun ang sagot nila (there’s a reason behind the celebrity contestants’ answers). So, in a way, you’re also educating each other. So, I love it. I love that.”
According to a piece of information given to this paper, “The People Have Spoken” is an original Pinoy “high-energy” game show, which “captures how much Filipinos love to talk, discuss and share their two cents on just about anything, except now, their two cents could turn into thousands of pesos.”
It adds that there are 100 studio audience members known as people, who are asked about various issues. Then, two pairs of celebrity contestants will guess about “the most popular opinions.”
A teaser for “The People Have Spoken” shows contestants sharing their points of view (POVs) about the question: Do you believe that first love never dies? There are also “celebri-peeps,” celebrities who join the studio people to somehow guide the contestants with their guesses.
Also helping the celebrity participants and viewers navigate the weekend show is Sean, who began his career as a member of the youth-oriented group Sparkada. He is one of the hosts of “TiktoClock,” the one-of-a-kind countdown variety show.
“I mean, yeah,” said he, referring to working with Heart as one of the biggest breaks in his career. “Never expected anything like this, though I did the audition process not really expecting anything and just wanted to do my best.”
“And now that I’m here, I (feel) it’s just surreal,” added he. “Uh, unbelievable, and grabe, (I’m) also super thankful to everyone that made the show possible, for even considering me to be a part of it.”
Sean also took the chance to thank his co-host Heart.
“Like, yeah, ‘cause I was super pressured from the start, I told you how nervous I was, and you’ve been always so warm and so welcoming, and you made it an easy job,” he said.
Heart, on the other hand, described Sean as someone “sobrang OK siya, sobrang smart, sobrang sipag (who is very nice to work with, very smart and very hardworking).”
Aside from “The People Have Spoken,” Heart also presents the second season of “Heart World,” also airing Saturdays (at 9:30 p.m.), while Sean will also appear in the forthcoming series, “Whispers from Heaven.”
Please watch Heart and Sean in “The People Have Spoken” Saturday nights on GMA. Kababayans abroad can catch the show via GMA Pinoy TV.
