MANILA, Philippines — Hindi ipagdiriwang bilang non-working holiday ang ika-38 na anibersaryo ng pag-aalsang EDSA People Power sa 2024, okasyong nagpatalsik sa diktador at dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Ito'y matapos lagdaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. — anak ni Marcos Sr. — ang Proclamation 368, s. 2023 nitong Miyerkules.

"The Office of the President maintains respect for the commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution," paliwanag ng Office of the President ngayong Biyernes.

"However, it was not included in the list of special non-working days for the year 2024 because February 25 falls on a Sunday."

 

 

Dagdag pa ng tanggapan ni Marcos Jr., ginawa ito lalo na't hindi raw gaano magkakaroon ng socio-economic impact ang pagiging special working day nito sa Linggo, lalo na't nagpapahinga naman na ang mga manggagawa sa araw na ito.

Ito'y kahit na madalas namang ilipat ng Malacañang patungong Lunes ang mga holiday na natataon sa araw ng Linggo.

Dati nang nababatikos ang administrasyon ni Bongbong dahil sa diumano'y "historical revisionism" patungkol sa mga abusong ginawa ng kanyang ama.

Ilang linggo pa lang ang nakalilipas nang hindi naglabas ng anumang mensahe ang Palasyo sa ika-51 anibersaryo ng deklarasyon ng Batas Militar ni Marcos Sr.

Ang Martial Law ni Marcos Sr. ay nagresulta sa pagkakakulong ng nasa umabot sa 70,000 katao, torture ng 34,000 at pagkamatay ng 3,200 iba pa, ayon sa datos ng Amnesty International.

Ang mga datos na 'yan ay matatandaang kwinestyon ni Bongbong noong kumakandidato pa sa pagkapresidente noong 2022.
