Bilang National Security Adviser

MANILA, Philippines — Itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Eduardo Año bilang bagong National Security Adviser (NSA).

Kinumpirma ni Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil ang appointment ni Año pagkatapos ng oath-taking sa Palasyo noong Sabado.

“Former DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) Secretary Eduardo Año took his oath before the President as the new National Security Adviser,” ani Garafil.

Pinalitan ng 61-an­yos na si Año si Clarita Carlos na nanungkulan sa NSA noong Hunyo 2022.

Si Año, miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy Class of 1983, ay isang beteranong intelligence officer na nagsilbi rin bilang chief-of-staff ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (Disyembre 2016 hanggang Oktubre 2017) sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni da­ting pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Inihayag din ni Garafil na si Carlos ay magpapatuloy sa kanyang pagpupursige sa scholastic endea­vors sa pamamagitan nang pagsapi sa Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) ng House of Representatives.

“Professor Clarita Carlos has decided to continue her pursuit of scholastic endea­vors as she joins the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) of the House of Representatives,” ani Garafil.

Ang CPBRD ang nagbibigay sa Mababang Kapulungan ng teknikal na serbisyo sa pagbubuo ng mga pambansang patakaran sa ekonomiya, fiscal at social policies.

Sa hiwalay na pahayag, sinabi ni Carlos na napagpasyahan niyang lumipat sa ibang ahensya kung saan magagamit ang kanyang husay sa foreign, defense at security policy at magpapatuloy siya sa pagtulong sa pagbuo ng isang “better Philippines.”

“I have realized that it is no longer politic to continue as NSA to the President and so, I have decided to migrate to another agency where my expertise on foreign, defense and security policy will be of use and I shall continue to help build a Better Philippines,” ani Carlos.
