Mambabatas itinutulak 'mandatory' drug tests sa mga artista, TV at film workers
MANILA, Philippines — Hinihikayat ng isang mambabatas ang mga nasa likod ng paglikha ng pelikula't mga himpilan ng telebisyon na isailalim sa sapilitang testing para sa iligal na droga ang kanilang mga talents: kasama na ang mga artista, direktor, writers, atbp.
Ito ang mungkahi ni Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers matapos maaresto ng aktor na si Dominic Roco atbp. sa Quezon City nitong Sabado. Kasama sa mga nakumpiska raw ng mga pulis noon ay 15 gramo ng pinagihihinalaang shabu at 10 gramo ng diumano'y marijuana.
"['Y]ung ating mga actors and actresses are being idolized by the youth. In fact some of them copy and emulate them. Even the way they dress, the way they move, the way they speak," ani Barbers sa isang panayam ng CNN Philippines, Lunes.
"If they discover or probably hear that the idol, or the actors or actresses that they are idolizing are involved in illegal drugs, it may somehow influence them to do the same."
"So I guess the best... is to ask the producers, the directors and even the TV networks to require all their actors, actresses or any employee in the whole filmn industry to undergo such drug tests in order to ensure that they are clean and not in any way involved in any vice such as illegal drugs."
Maliban sa mga artista, dapat din daw maging sakop nito ang mga mang-aawit, extra (bit players), direktor, producer, script writers atbp. lalo na't nagiging magkalapit daw ang mga nabanggit.
Aniya, magandang gawin daw ito bago magkapirmahan ng kontrata. Maliban pa rito, pwede rin daw magkaroon ng random drug inspection bago magtapos ang isang proyekto.
"As long as they are being portrayed in a film or in a project as someone who is worthy of emulation, then therefore they should undergo all these tests," dagdag pa ng mambabatas.
"If we are really serious about fighting this menace... maybe they should think out of the box... Para hindi talaga nila maisip na pumasok sa ganyan."
Mura lang naman din daw ang mga drug tests, na ineestima ni Barbers sa P500, bagay na maliit na bagay lang daw para sa mga producers na handang magbuhos ng malaking budget sa mga artista.
Upang mamonitor, magandang maglabas daw ang Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency o Philippine National Police ng "clearance" na hindi nagdrodroga ang nasabing nagtratrabaho sa entertainment industry, bagay na kahawig daw ng National Bureau of Investigation clearance.
Sa ngayon ay mungkahi pa lang ito at hindi unang beses na mahulihan ng droga ang mga nasa showbiz.
Itinutulak ni Barbers ang hakbang na ito ilang buwan matapos ihain ni Sen. Robinhood Padilla ang Senate Bill 230, na siyang layong gawing ligal ang paggamit ng marijuana para makatulong laban sa ilang sakit.
Sa kabila ng mga sinabi ni Barbers, sinabi niyang "may merito" naman daw ang panukalang ito ng senador. — James Relativo
