Luzon brownouts iimbestigahan ng Senado
Ayon kay Gatcha­lian, chaiman ng Committee on Energy, hindi katanggap-tanggap ang sunud-sunod na yellow at red alert warnings ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) para sa Luzon grid nitong nakaraang linggo.

MANILA, Philippines — Iimbestigahan ng Senado ang hindi inaasahang brownouts na naranasan sa ilang bayan at siyudad sa Luzon lalo pa’t nangyari ito matapos tiyakin ng Department of Energy na sapat ang nakareserbang suplay ng kuryente.

Ayon kay Gatcha­lian, chaiman ng Committee on Energy, hindi katanggap-tanggap ang sunud-sunod na yellow at red alert warnings ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) para sa Luzon grid nitong nakaraang linggo.

“The brownouts felt by our constituents in Luzon these past few days is totally unacceptable. The Department of Energy assured us even before the start of summer that there will be enough power supply in the country. If there’s enough power supply, then how come that there are towns and provinces in Luzon that are experiencing rotational brownouts,” pahayag ni Gatchalian.

Iginiit ni Gatchalian na dapat may masibak sa nangyayaring brownouts dahil hindi tama ang impormasyong ibinibi­gay sa mga consumers.

“Definitely, heads must roll this time. We owe it to the power consumers to give them accurate information on the power situation in the country. Mukhang na-overestimate ng DOE ang available capacity ng kuryente natin,” dagdag ni Gatchalian.

Base sa ulat ng NGCP, nasa pitong probinsiya at 40 bayan at siyudad ang apektado ng rotating brownouts sa Luzon.

Pagtutuunan ng imbestigasyon ng Senado ang hindi tamang electricity forecast ng DOE sa buong summer season at ang contingency measures ng departamento sa mga hindi inaasa­hang brownouts.
