Abogadong nagreklamo kay Poe, ikinatuwa ang desisyon ng Comelec

MANILA, Philippines – Pinuri ng abogadong naghain ng petisyon laban kay Sen. Grace Poe ang naging desisyon ng Commission on Elections 2nd Division na idiskwalipika ang senadora sa 2016 polls.

“I salute the Comelec for standing up for the Constitution and for having the courage and wisdom to go against what is perceived to be the public sentiment,” pahayag ni Estrella “Star” Elamparo.

Matapos maghain ni Poe ng certificate of candidacy (COC) ay nagpasa ng petisyon si Elamparo sa Comelec upang ibasura ang COC ng senadora dahil sa kakulangan sa residency requirement na 10 taon.

“The decision sends the message that we cannot mangle our Constitution and our laws just to accommodate somebody’s political ambition,” dagdag ng dating chief legal counsel ng Government Service Insurance System.

Ang reklamo ni Elamparo ay isa lamang sa apat na kinakaharap pa ni Poe sa Comelec.

Sina dating Sen. Francisco Tatad, De La Salle University Professor Antonio Contreras at dating University of the East Law Dean Amado Valdez ang iba panghain ng petisyon upang ibasura ang COC ni Poe.

Nakatakdang maghain ng motion for reconsideration ang kampo ni Poe sa Comelec en banc na kinabibilangan ng pitong commissioners, pero tatlo dito ay miyembro ng 2nd division na sina Presiding Commissioner Al Parreno, Commissioners Arthur Lim at Sheriff Abas.
