Enrile pinayagang magpiyansa

MANILA, Philippines — Sa botong 8-4 ay pinayagan ng Korte Suprema ngayong Martes ang hirit ni Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile na makapagpiyansa para sa kasong graft at plunder kaugnay ng pork barrel scam.

Kinakailangang magbayad ng P1 milyon ni Enrile kapalit ng pansamantalang kalayaan.

"The court granted the petition for bail of petitioner Juan Ponce Enrile, subject to the terms and conditions to be specified by the Court in its Order which will be forthcoming," pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng mataas na hukuman na si Theodore Te.

Ilan sa mga hindi pumabor sa pagpiyansa ni Enrile ay sina Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, Associate Justices Estela Perlas-Bernabe at Marvic Leonen.

Samantala, nag-inhibit naman si Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza dahil siya ang dating Solicitor General.

Naka-hospital arrest ngayong ang 91-anyos na senador matapos madawit ang pangalan sa maanomalyang pork barrel scam sa pamumuno umano ng negosyanteng si Janet Lim-Napoles.

Tiniyak nama ni Senate President Franklin Drilon na "will always respect, follow and implement every decision of the courts."

"We will abide by the legal processes as we have always done in the past.”
