Miriam: Lacson bilang anti-crime czar, ilegal

MANILA, Philippines - Tinawag kahapon na ilegal, imoral at katawa-tawa ni Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago ang plano na ga­wing crime czar si dating Senator Ping Lacson na mamumuno sa bubuuing Presidential Commission Against Corruption.

Ayon kay Santiago, laban sa kasalukuyang “standard of law and ethics” ang plano ni Lacson na gawin ang sarili na anti-crime czar. “His plan is laughable and ridiculous.  It is unconstitutional, illegal, immoral, and egotistic. It is amazing that the former senator can be so brazen as to propose a plan that violates existing standards of law and ethics,” ani Santiago.

Naiskandalo rin umano si Santiago na mismong si Lacson na hindi isang abogado ang nag-draft ng executive order na lalagdaan ni Pangulong Aquino kung saan si Lacson ang magiging head ng isang “super anti-crime” agency. Sinabi pa ni Santiago na walang kapangyarihan ang Pangulo na kumuha ng isang public office.

 Ayon pa kay Santiago walang batas na ipinapasa ang Kongreso na nagbibigay ng legislative power sa Pangulo para magbuo ng isang tanggapan.

Hindi lamang umano Konstitusyon ang nilalabag ni Lacson kung maging ang Administrative Code at ang R.A. 6975 o ang DILG Act of 1990.

Pero ayon kay Lacson may karapatan ang Pangulo na magbuo ng isang ahensiya at dapat nitong tingnan ang Administrative Code of 1987.
