Graft vs BCDA prexy

MANILA, Philippines - Sinampahan ng kasong graft sa Office of the Ombudsman si BCDA president Arnel Casanova ng Camp John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDevCo).

Nag-ugat ang kaso dahil sa pagkabigo umano ng BCDA na tumupad sa kanilang obligasyon sa ilalim ng 2008 Restructuring Memorandum of Agreement (RMOA) na nagsusog naman sa 1996 lease agreement sa pagitan ng BCDA at CJHDevCo.

Sinampahan din ng CJHDevCo sa pamamagitan ng mga lawyers nito na sina dating Solicitor-general Frank Chavez at Atty. Manuel Ubarra Jr., sina BCDA Chairman of the Board of Directors Felicito C. Payumo, mga directors Zorayda Amelia C. Alonzo, Teresita A. Desierto, Ma. Aurora Geotina-Garcia, Ferdinand S. Golez, Elmar M. Gomez at Maximo L. Sangil.

Ayon kay Atty. Ubarra, ang kontrobersyang ito ay banta din sa may 3,000 empleyado ng John Hay na pawang residente ng Baguio City.

Sa ilalim ng 1996 lease agreement ay covered nito ang 46,996.70 hectares na nasa loob ng John Hay Special Economic Zone na nasa ilalim naman ng administrasyon ng BCDA.

Ang CJHDevCo ay may obligasyon na idevelop ang lease property sa isang whole-some family oriented public tourism complex, multi-purpose forest watershed at human resources development center habang sa ilalim naman ng RMOA ay obligasyon ng BCDA na magpatupad ng One Stop Action Center na nabigo umanong maipatupad.
