Taiwanese firm kakasuhan ng economic sabotage

MANILA, Philippines - Inutos kahapon ni Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group Chief Antonio “Bebot” Villar Jr. ang pagsasampa ng kasong economic sabotage laban sa isang Taiwanese firm na natuklasang nagtutunaw ng mga coins o barya para gumawa ng “bronze battery clam” at iba pang assorted bathroom fixtures.

Pinakakasuhan ni Villar si Ming Tsun Liang, may-ari ng Ming Tsun Liang Inc.; Jui Chiung Liang, treasurer; at mga incorporators na sina Evangeline Aquino, Redelyn Go at Susan Baquiran Go.

Sinalakay kamakailan ng PASG ang bodega ni Liang sa no. 4 MGM compound, Sityo Gitna, Caloocan City kung saan ay mahigit limang kilo ng 25 centavo coins, bronze scrap metal at iba pang finished bronze at brass-laced hard wares ang nakumpiska.

Sinabi pa ni Villar dapat lamang kasuhan ng economic sabotage at paglabag sa Presidential Decree 247 ang mga suspek dahil sa defacing/multilating and smuggling of Philippine coins; paglabag sa BSP Circular 98 series of 1995 at paglabag sa section 2 Article 164 ng Revised Penal Code.

 “The owner did not just disregard the Philippine laws, they insult our country and sabotage our economy by melting the coins to produce industrial spare parts,” dagdag pa ng PASG chief.

Natuklasan na kinasuhan na rin ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ang nasabing kompanya noong 2005 dahil din sa pagtunaw ng mga “barya” sa loob ng Cavite Economic Zone pero nadismis ang kaso dahil sa teknikalidad. (Rudy Andal)
