PUVs di kasama sa GSIS takeover

Nangako si Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza sa iba’t ibang lider ng transport groups na hindi nito isasama ang mga pampasaherong sasakyan sa pagsasailalim sa GSIS ng Compulsary Third Party Liability (CTPL) bilang tugon sa panawagan ng transport sector dahil ma­ ganda naman anya ang ser­bisyo sa kanila ng ka­salukuyang sistema.

“It’s good news. There’s no problem, Secretary Mendoza agreed not to touch the ctpl on PUVs. Meaning the current two-group system under Philippine Accident Managers Insurance Inc. and Universal Transport Insurance Solutions Inc. will remain,” pahayag ni Obet Martin, Pangulo ng Pasang Masda makaraan ang tatlong oras na pulong ng Kalihim sa kanilang hanay.

Agad namang pinasala­matan ng transport groups ang gina­wang pagtugon ni Men­doza sa kanilang kahili­ngan. 

Umalma ang transport groups nang malaman ang balitang nagkaroon ng ka­sunduan ang DoTC, Insurance Commission, Strad­com Corp. at GSIS upang pangasiwaan nito ang pagkakaloob ng insurance sa mga sasakyan.

Ang mga PUVs ay nakuha ng kani­lang CTPL sa PAMI at Unitrans. 

Sa 3.6 bilyon vehicle owners, 300,000 dito ay mga pampasaherong sa­sakyan tulad ng taxis, jeep­neys at bus. (Angie dela Cruz)
