TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — More than P31.7-million worth of infrastructure projects in Barugo town in Leyte, were inaugurated last week, according to the governor’s report release to the media last Thursday.
Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla, together with Barugo town Mayor Ma. Rosario Cumpio Avestruz, led the separate inauguration rites of the completed repair of a hanging bridge and construction of a multi-purpose building, at a total cost of P31,712,837.73.
Petilla told The Freeman that the repair of the hanging bridge at Barangay Roosevelt cost P14 million, while the multi-purpose center building at Barangay Cuta was built at a cost P17,712,837.73.
Petilla said the repair of the hanging bridge was prioritized because it “is the vital link of Barangay Roosevelt to other barangays, and to the town proper.”
The multi- purpose center building will also serve as the evacuation center at Barangay Cuta during calamities, the governor added.
