BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-Region 18 (Negros Island Region) will soon expand its anti-illegal drug campaign through the Oplan Double Barrel Alpha.
This time, it will also cover posh subdivisions, business establishments, business processing centers, schools and universities, government agencies, high-rise condominiums, shopping malls and jails, according to Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, PRO-18 spokesperson.
“This will be in coordination with the drug abuse councils in the barangay, municipality or city,” said Catedral during the command conference recently at the PRO-18 headquarters in Bacolod City, presided by Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, PRO-18 director,
Catedral said that, under the Oplan Double Barrel Alpha, they will also start the clearing of drug-affected barangays in Negros.
Fifteen drug-affected barangays in La Carlota City and Salvador Benedicto town have recently been declared as drug-cleared areas by their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils, and concurred in by their local chief executives and police chiefs.
The Oplan Tokhang operations of the police, which is part of the Oplan Double Barrel, initially focused on houses of drug personalities. This time it will be expanded to other areas, Catedral said. (FREEMAN)
