ILOILO CITY , Philippines — No one was hurt when a grenade was thrown and exploded at a sugar mill of the Janiuay-Badiangan Farmers Association at Barangay Iniligan in Badiangan town, Iloilo at around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Azela Campanan, the mill manager, said a motorcycle-riding man threw the grenade that blasted beside the sugar mill building. The perpetrator’s motorcycle had no plate number and fled towards Janiuay town after the incident.
The mill had no laborer at the time and the explosion only damaged the galvanized iron sheet roof.
Responding policemen recovered a grenade’s safety pin, a safety clip, a fuse assembly, and a deformed fragmentation grenade.
Senior Police Officer 3 Jessie Agabe, Badiangan police investigator, said police investigation was conducted but no perpertrator was identified so far. He added that JABAFA has yet to reveal if it received any threat before the incident. (FREEMAN)
