CEBU, Philippines - Negros Oriental’s former 1st district Representative Jocelyn Limkaichong, of the Liberal Party, is now making a comeback to regain her previous congressional seat, after staying out of politics for the past three years.
Limkaichong, who lost the gubernatorial post against Governor Roel Degamo in 2013, filed her certificate of candidacy for Congress the other day, along with LP’s bets for Provincial Board seats of the 1st district:
Re-electionist PB Members Georgita Martinez and Jessica Jane Villanueva, and Guihulngan City Councilor Jaime Reyes, also the acting city vice mayor, who will be running for the first time for a PB post.
Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias of the Nationalist People’s Coalition accompanied Limkaichong on Tuesday as a show of support to the female politician. He, however, has not filed yet his COC for re-election.
Limkaichong had been designated LP provincial chairman by party president Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya, disproving claims of a certain Sammy Torres that he is the party head in the province.
Torres beat the closing time of 5 p.m. at the Comelec to file his COC for congressman of the 2nd district.
Comelec said Torres was deemed an independent candidate because he had not submitted a certificate of nomination and acceptance from the LP. —(FREEMAN)
