Disomangcop replaces Floro in Iloilo City PNP

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Senior Superintendent Khasmir Disomangcop assumed post as director of the Iloilo City Police Office in what was perceived to be an abrupt change of command ceremony Friday.

Disomangcop, fresh from graduating from his Tactical Commander Course, was chosen over three other candidates to replace Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro, who already completed the normal two-year tour of duty.

In his speech during the turn over rites, City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog admitted that he was trying to stall Floro’s imminent relief. However, “nothing is permanent in this world except change. With a heavy heart, I’m trying to talk it out to delay his relief because I’m happy and pleased with his performance but I have to let him go,” the mayor said.

Because of the reforms instituted by Floro, Mabilog said he still received requests from private sectors and barangay officials to retain the former. “But his time is up and there’s nothing I can do within my authority,” the mayor added.

Mabilog however was confident that Disomangcop would continue the reforms initiated by Floro. “It did not take me five minutes to pick him because I have previously worked with him,” he said.

The 50-year-old Disomangcop, a graduate of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Officers’ Candidate Course in 1991, previously led the Jaro and La Paz police stations in the early 2000. Prior to his present assignment, he was chief of the Regional Intelligence Division and the Regional Headquarters Support Group of the Police Regional Office-6.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, Sr. Supt. Samuel Nacion left as PRO-6's RID chief and was installed new director of the Capiz Police Provincial Office replacing Sr. Supt. Ulysses Caton, who was sent to the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.— Jennifer P. Rendon (FREEMAN)
