ILOILO CITY , Philippines — A casual employee of the Iloilo City Hall was tagged as a suspect in the shooting to death of a 20-year-old woman in front of a mall at Quezon St., in this city Monday morning.
Chief Insp. Alexander Rosales, City Proper Police chief, identified Enrico Robles, Jr., 37, a market law enforcer, as the gunman who shot dead Frances Lei Reyes, of Brgy. Santa Rita in Oton town of Iloilo.
An eyewitness identified Robles as the gun-wielding man running from the crime scene. “But we could not tell what drove Robles to kill Reyes. It could be possible that he was just hired to kill the victim,†said Rosales.
Since Tuesday, Robles did not report for work. His whereabouts could not be ascertained. He did not go home to Brgy. Caingin in La Paz district of this city where he and his wife and two children reside. Further, he did not visit his parents at Brgy. Habog-Habog Salvacion in Molo district.
“Is flight a sign of guilt? Possibly,†Rosales said, adding that a CCTV footage showed the suspect was in the crime scene around 5:44 p.m. and appeared busy texting until he was seen fleeing by 6:10 p.m.
Rosales said Robles has no criminal record with the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) but some reports claimed that he was involved in a stabbing incident in another place.
Reyes had just went out of the mall when the gunman approached her from the back. The man, at close range, pointed the gun at her and pumped the bullet of a .38-caliber pistol at the back of her head.
Reyes had two children—a 3-year old boy and 2-year old girl—sired by different men. (FREEMAN)
