Guv nominates Garin for LMP-Iloilo prexy
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. has chosen Mayor Christine Garin of Guimbal town to be the next president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Iloilo chapter.
The governor's support for Garin came after LMP-Iloilo incumbent president, Anilao town Mayor Ma. Teresa Debuque has supported another political party during the May 13 elections.
Defensor said he trusted Garin because she is “brilliant, industrious and single that she could devote her full time†to ensure the success of every program and project of his administration.
The governor was confident that Garin will win considering that majority of the 43 mayors, including the one of the component city of Passi, belong to the Liberal Party and will vote for her.
Garin, for her part, thanked Defensor for trusting her, saying that if she will be elected then she is ready at any time to fulfill the task and responsibility mandated for her office.
The DILG has been set to administer the election for LMP-Iloilo's new set of officers. (FREEMAN)
