TALISAY CITY, Philippines — The town of Binalbagan and San Carlos City were conferred with Best Performing Local Government Units awards by the Department of Interior and Local Government–Negros Occidental provincial office during a ceremony held in this city last Tuesday.
Binalbagan won the award, under the municipal category, followed by Pulupandan town, while San Carlos City was the winner (city category) with Bago City at first runner-up and Sagay City, the second runner-up.
Special awards were also given to the Pulupandan town and San Carlos City for Best in Administrative Governance; Binalbagan town and Bago City for Best in Social Services; and La Castellana town and San Carlos City for Best in Economic Development.
The town of Moises Padilla and Bago City bagged the Best in Environmental Management award, and La Castellana and Kabankalan City received the Best in Local Legislation award.
Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., in his speech during the ceremony, encouraged local officials not to rest on their laurels but to continue working and harvesting more awards.
