MANILA, Philippines — Sasamantalahin ni Gilas Pilipinas coach Tim Cone ang ilang araw na trai­ning camp nito upang ma­kabuo ng solidong game plan ang kaniyang tro­pa para sa FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers second window na hahataw sa Nob­yembre 21 at 24 sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.

Hindi gaya ng dati, mi­na­buti ni Cone na huwag nang magkaroon ng public practice dahil nais nitong ga­mitin ang bawat minuto ng ensayo ng Gilas Pilipinas sa pukpukang ensayo.

Matinding laban ang haharapin ng Gilas Pilipinas partikular na ang pagsagupa nito sa New Zealand Tall Blacks sa Nobyembre 21.

“I don’t know if we’ll have the time to do something like we have in the past in Philsports in front of the fans because we only have five days of preparation this time,” ani Cone.

Maraming dapat ayusin ang Gilas Pilipinas lalo pa’t hindi makapaglalaro si AJ Edu, habang nanganganib din na hindi masilayan sa aksiyon si Kai Sotto na pa­rehong nasa obserbasyon.

Kaya naman napakaim­portante ng bawat araw ng ensayo ng Gilas Pilipinas na ngayong lamang mu­ling maglalaro nang magka­kasama matapos ang FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament noong Hulyo.

“Those five days are really crucial, each day and each practice is going to be very crucial for us. Maybe next time, with longer preparation, we’ll have an opportunity to do that,” ani Cone.

Inihahanda na ang ilang tuneup games ng Gilas Pi­­lipinas.

Ilan sa mga posbileng ma­kaharap ng Gilas squad ang mga PBA teams na naghahanda para sa Commissioner’s Cup.

“The coaching staff is looking into facing other teams for tune-ups. We’ve been looking around, we might invite a PBA team to come on up and play us,” wika ni Cone.
