PENCILS. A retired public school teacher spends part of her retirement pension by buying hundreds of pencils for indigent schoolchildren in places where the parents of these children are too poor they break a pencil in two for their kids.
SMALLTIME. An Ear informer said this is smalltime philanthropy that the said teacher has been carrying on after her retirement. She first thought of this one-man project after she saw that many schoolkids in her barangay had to use discarded pencils, sometimes shorter than an inch in length.
SOLICITATIONS. Our Ear informer said parents of very poor schoolchildren who have learned by this pencil philanthropy of the retired teacher have come to her for donation.
