No choice for Mar

A beauty parlor owner says more and more Pinoy machomen are getting vain. Because...No vain, no gain?

The same beauty parlor owner says there is a male weightlifter client who spends a lot of money on facial creams and lotions. She says: “Lipstick na lang ang dili gamiton.”

Oxford Dictionary has added one more word: “Selfie.” It means a self-taken photograph. Oxford has not yet discovered “habal-habal.” Originally, “riding alone,” now “riding in tandem.”

I thought once that calling the Blessed Virgin Mary “Our Lady of the Candle” and “Our Lady of the Snow” was quite inappropriate. Until I read in the PhilSTAR that there is Our Lady of the Milk.

The Unicef says one billion people worldwide have no access to clean toilets. Our slum dwellers are not alone.

The Supreme Court has declared the PDAF as unconstitutional. So...how about those who have already gotten their PDAF and have in fact “invested” them in some NGOs?

DILG Sec. Mar Roxas's role in the tragic events hitting the Philippines doesn't give him the chance to collect pogi points. It's a role where you get damned if you do and damned if you don't.

My good friend and media colleague Ben Ypil rushed back home while on his apostolic mission in the US because he was bothered by reports about the series of calamities hitting the Phl including Cebu.

It's a different case with another friend, Tito Dingle Sr., who rushed to the States to assure his wife he was OK after da missus kept calling and asking if he was safe from Yolanda and the 7.2-magnitude earthquake. Of course, da missus knew Yolanda was a typhoon, not a woman.

OVERHEARD. The Holy Rosary devotees are still talking about the earthquake that rocked Cebu and a member of their parish who left their group long ago to join another religious group. Said Minda (not her real name): “Grabeng koruga ni Maring (not her real name). Paglinog oy. Nagkurog-kurog nangukay sa nalabay na niyang basket.” Maring: “Kay ngano man?” Minda: “Ay sus, Day, gipangita ang iyang rosaryohan nga dugay na niyang gilabay. Iya ra ba tong ikuwentas kon modugdug ug mangilat atol sa kusog nga uwan.”
