UST declared safe after bomb threat

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities declared the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila safe following another bomb threat yesterday.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said no bomb or any explosive device was found on the campus.
A team from the Explosive Ordnance Division advised the university’s security personnel to be vigilant and report similar incidents to police.
Authorities were informed about the bomb threat at UST at around 6 a.m. by an organization with an account named “TIGER TTIGER.”
The message stated that the planned bombing would push through after it was postponed over the weekend.
The sender deactivated its account.
“Following the receipt of the threat, police responded to secure the university and conduct an investigation,” the MPD said.
The UST administration said it is coordinating with the Philippine National Police to address the safety threats circulating online.
The university did not suspend classes upon the recommendation of law enforcers.
The campus has been declared safe after police confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax.
The Emilio Aguinaldo College and De La Salle University also received security threats yesterday.
