383 OFWs repatriated from Saudi Arabia
MANILA, Philippines — Over 380 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the continuing tension in Saudi Arabia have been repatriated by the government.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that 383 OFWs and their dependents have returned to the country since Oct. 19.
The DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) gave the returning workers medical and financial assistance, temporary accommodation and transportation to their respective provinces.
Another 117 OFWs from Saudi Arabia arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Oct. 25.
As of Monday, the government had assisted 4,049 OFWs affected by the security situation in Saudi Arabia, delivering a total of 5,496 services, including food, medical care, shelter, land transportation, financial aid and repatriation.
“We will continue to provide support until they are able to go home to their respective provinces,” OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan said. “Our priority is to fast-track the repatriation of our OFWs.”
The DMW urged OFWs affected by the security situation in Saudi Arabia to seek assistance through its Migrant Workers Offices.
