P100M realignment pushed in Mandaue
CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City Council yesterday referred to the Committee on Budget and Appropriation the recommendation to realign the P100 million unused funds to be used for two big-ticket projects this year.
The recommendation came from City Budget Officer Giovanni Tianero who wrote a letter to Mayor Jonas Cortes, saying there are available funds for such realignment to purchase additional facilities at the Mandaue Sports Center and develop the proposed #iamMandaue park.
Tianero’s letter dated December 29, 2015 said the city has P51,200,000.66 in funds under “Continuing Appropriation” and P48,800,000 from several accounts all under “General Fund Current Appropriation.”
“This is to inform you that the slated lists of accounts with the corresponding amounts could be a possible source of realignment amounting to P100,000,000 for the two projects of the city,” he said.
Projects in the pipeline that may be materialized upon the realignment’s approval specifically include Mandaue Sports Center Phase 1, track and field oval, football field, basketball and tennis courts and the city’s share for the Mandaue North Reclamation project (in barangays Paknaan and Labogon areas) worth P50 million.
The other half of the fund will be spent for the construction of a park near the City Hall. (FREEMAN)
