CEBU, Philippines – Three incidents of carnapping were reported in Talisay City in just a matter of two days.
Last Wednesday afternoon, Ritchel Denepaz, 31, resident of Barangay Mohon, sought assistance from the Talisay City police when his black and white XRM-125 motorcycle bearing plate number GC-87005 was lost.
He said he parked his motorcycle outside his house when it was nowhere to be found later.
On Thursday dawn, another black and white XRM-125 motorcycle with plate number GE-63008 was also reported lost.
The owner, Jayno Lagamayo, 24, resident of Argao town, allegedly lost it while being parked along the road in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.
Despite efforts to look for his missing motorcycle, Lagamayo failed to locate it. Based on accounts from witnesses, two suspects reportedly carted the bike away.
At around 11:30 a.m. still on Thursday, Angelito Tutor, 20, resident of Sitio Upper Cadicay, Barangay Lawaan 2, also reportedly lost his motorcycle by two robbers.
He said as a "habal-habal" driver, he was hired by the unidentified suspects. However, he was allegedly struck in his head by one of the suspects with the use of .45 caliber firearm.
Tutor said he fell to the pavement while one of the suspects pointed a gun at him before fleeing together with the cohort onboard his black Smash 115 motorcycle.
Superintendent Germano Mallari, chief of Talisay City police, said they already have the identities of the suspects, adding two robbery groups were responsible of the crime.
Mallari said they are now looking into the personalities who are linked to the group of Jeffry Caparida and Richie Daan.
They are investigating a group of minor robbers who had been caught in Carcar City but were released due to their ages. (FREEMAN)
