CEBU, Philippines – A man's home lost more than a million worth of valuables to unidentified robbers on Monday morning in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
John Rian Ruba, 34, of San Antonio Village, lost his Rolex watch worth P700,000; Armani watch, P20,000; Bvlgari necklace, P150,000; rose gold bracelet, P260,000; a necklace, P20,000; and a wedding ring.
According to Chief Inspector David Señor, chief of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office, the unidentified number of robbers climbed the terrace of the room where the jewelry were located.
The robbers also managed to get inside the room by destroying its door locks, Señor said.
Prior to the incident, Ruba said he and his family left their home at 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. of the previous day to dine out. They only discovered that they were robbed the day after.
Señor said the village where Ruba lived had no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. There were also no security guards in the village.
According to Señor, police personnel will go back to the village to conduct a follow-up investigation on the incident.
Señor earlier advised those living in the village to have security guards rove around their area. He also advised the people to install CCTV cameras at their houses that will help identify possible perpetrators.
Police personnel have already taken the fingerprints of the perpetrators left at the crime scene.
