CEBU, Philippines – Over P24.1 million in business taxes were collected in the month-long one-stop shop for businesses established by the local government of the City of Naga.
Minnie Abangan, head of Business Permit Licensing Office of the city, said the amount generated in the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) surpassed last year’s P23.9 million collection. It is considered the highest since 2012.
Based on the records at the City Treasurer’s Office, it show that the BOSS collected P17.8 million and P22.1 million in business taxes in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
According to Abangan , the city conducts BOSS every January since 2010 wherein representatives of different offices involved in the collection of taxes are holding office in one common area at the Multi-Purpose Hall A of the City Hall building.
Abangan said the one-stop shop system makes it easy, convenient and hassle-free for taxpayers in the processing of registration, renewal and issuance of permits, as they do not have to hop from one office to another.
In last January’s BOSS, the BPLO noted an increase in the number of renewed business permits at 932 compared to 833 in 2014. It also approved 69 new business applications, higher than last year’s 57.
The taxpayers also hailed the simplified system in the processing of business permits as they only have to comply with requirements
Abangan said the average processing time for new and renewal of application is 30 minutes.
