Robbers attack gas station, take P12T cash

CEBU, Philippines – A gasoline station and its convenience store on Ouano Avenue in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City lost P12,946 in cash after they were robbed Tuesday evening by four men onboard two separate motorcycles.

Lurlita Baguio, 25, cashier of Petron gas station, reported to the operatives of the Subangdaku Police Station that the four suspects, in their late 30s and all armed with undetermined caliber of firearms, were wearing full-face helmets and used two motorcycles – one red and the other white – when they appeared at the establishment.

The two suspects onboard the red motorcycle stopped at the cashier's booth and the backrider disembarked, opened the door and pointed his handgun to the cashier inside before declaring "Hold up."

The suspects divested the cash drawer containing undetermined amount of daily proceeds, Baguio told the police.

The other two suspects onboard the white motorcycle, also armed with handguns, proceeded to Petron's convenience store, one of them approached Jimrey Sumayang, the guard on duty, and pointed the gun at him.

The other one went inside the store and requested cashier Gretchen Bug-ot, 21, to hand over the proceeds of the convenience store. Out of fear, she immediately yielded to the robbers' request.

Employees who witnessed the incident threw some empty bottles at the suspects while they were about to flee.

This prompted the suspects to retaliate and to fire some shots at the workers. Fortunately, none of them was hit.

The suspects sped off to the direction of Cebu City.

Police Officer 2 Frederick Andales said it was only yesterday that the management called up the Subangdaku Police Station to inform them of the incident.

After an inventory, the management found out that the suspects were able to cart away a total of P12,946 cash.
