CEBU, Philippines - Two persons onboard a motorcycle were found transporting illegal drugs and then arrested during a checkpoint conducted by the operatives of the Subangdaku Police Station yesterday midnight along Zuellig Street at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The suspects were identified as Paulino Pillar, 37, single and a resident of Purok Lemonsito in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City and Gabriel Baguio, 37, married and a former barangay tanod of Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City.
It was learned that the eight-man team led by Police Inspector Ricky Calong, the deputy chief of Subangdaku Police Station, was conducting a checkpoint along Zuellig Street when both suspects who were onboard their Honda XRM motorcycle (76121S) were intercepted by the police.
During frisking, the police were able to seize a medium pack of shabu from the possession of Pillar who was the backrider on the motorcycle.
Both suspects were then brought to the Subangdaku Police Station.
During interrogation, it was learned that the suspects said the illegal drugs came from Villagonzalo Street in Cebu City and somebody just tasked them to have the drugs brought to Mandaue City.
Both suspects are presently detained at the Subangdaku Police Station pending the filing of charges of illegal drugs possession. — Flor Z. Perolina (FREEMAN)
