CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver lost his P2,700 cash earnings after being robbed by unidentified suspects along the Airport Road in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City on Wednesday.
The driver was identified as Bernardo Evangelista, 54, who is a resident of Sitio Kauswagan, Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City. The two robbers have yet to be identified.
Police Officer 2 Ivan Sarsuela of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Station 4, who handles the investigation, said Evangelista was on his cab when two persons hailed his taxi (GXR 164). Thinking they were legit, Evangelista accommodated the passengers in his taxi.
However, on their way to the airport, one of the suspects suddenly pointed a sharp knife on Evangelista's neck and declared their intention. The suspects carted away all of Evangelista's earnings that day before ordering him to pull over and fleeing away from the scene.
Sarsuela said the police authorities are still conducting an investigation regarding the incident for possible determination of the suspects. (FREEMAN)
