Korean linked in slay of 3 charged

CEBU, Philippines - A formal complaint has been lodged against a Korean national who was linked to the killing of his live-in partner and in-laws inside Han Ga Wi Restaurant in Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City last week.

The multiple homicide case against Kim Se Wong is now being handled by the City Prosecutor's Office of Lapu-Lapu.

After the inquest yesterday afternoon at the Lapu-Lapu City Justice Hall, Wong, who was assisted by Police Office Lydo Pinos of  Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section, refused to undergo preliminary investigation within the examination of the presented affidavits.

Present in the inquest was Ahn Tae Joo, brother of the killed Young Mi An. The prosecution side's interpreter and lawyer were also in attendance.

Wong's camp was given a period of 15 days to file counter-affidavit to circumvent the charges pressed against him.

Wong, who had no defense lawyer at his side, yesterday refused to waive his detention. His case was elevated to the trial court.

After the inquest, Ahn Tae Joo shouted to Wong in Korean words, "Why did you kill them!"

After the immediate court trial, Wong will be detained directly at Lapu-Lapu City Jail in Barangay Soong.

Last Thursday, three people were discovered dead by a customer inside the Korean restaurant in Sitio Bagumbayan.

Police who responded to the alarm went inside and found the place all messed up. Through the visible bloodstains, Wong was seen in one of the rooms on the second floor, having deep slashes on his right left wrist.

The Korean suspect is also believed to be involved in an estafa case against to another Korean complainant.

The case reportedly involved about 1.5 million and the incident happened on September 15, 2011. However, police authorities are still verifying whether Wong was the man wanted for the discovered recent case.  (FREEMAN)
