CEBU, Philippines - A fire gutted a two-storey boarding house in Barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City yesterday morning.
Nobody was reported injured but cost of damage was pegged at P100,000.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Nilo Cosido said electrical short circuit likely caused the fire, which occurred past 10 a.m. and controlled within three minutes.
Firefighters put out the blaze before it could reach the adjacent house of Joveniano Libato, who also owns the boarding house inside the Flores Compound.
Cosido said nobody was inside the boarding house whose lower floor is occupied by a tenant.
The Bureau of Fire Protection-Mandaue City received a phone call about the fire at 10:36 a.m. Cosido said the fire, which reached second alarm, started on the second floor. It was totally put out after 12 minutes.
It was the second fire in Mandaue this month.
Last March 18, three establishments were razed in Sitio Nangka, Barangay Casuntingan. (FREEMAN)
