Jeepney passengers yield to robbers

CEBU, Philippines - Two unidentified men robbed six passengers inside a 09C jeepney near Sabellano St. corner Macopa St. in Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The suspects were able to gain the victims'  cellphones, cash, ATM cards, passbooks, passport, various IDs and licenses.

Victims alleged that the two unknown suspects boarded on the said PUJ at San Isidro Chapel near Dessana Heights. Upon reaching the corner, the suspects declared hold up and told the victims in vernacular not to resist as all they needed were their belongings.

The suspects pointed a handgun to the passengers while taking their personal belongings. Afterwards, the suspects transferred to the motorcycle which was following the jeepney.

The victims were identified as Honey Calamba of Sitio Ubca, Brgy. Quiot; Joan Iway of Brgy. Tabunan, Borbon; call center agent Cione Anne Lagnason of Fairview Village, Brgy. Basak; school canteen cashier Carla Ongos of Upper Yati, Brgy. Quiot; data encoder operator Andrelyn Navales of Lower Genes Compound, Brgy. Quiot and security guard Janjan Villamor of Brgy. Quiot.

The Police Station 10 of Cebu City Police Office is now on its operation for the possible arrest of the suspects.

Meanwhile, unknown suspect/s robbed the manager of Cebu Kent Cycle located at Manalili St. corner Osmeña Blvd. in Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The 30-year-old manager Michelle Chan Po of  Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City discovered at around 9:40 a.m. that a portion of the ceiling and floor of first to third floor were destroyed.

She alleged that the suspect was responsible for the said destruction and took her P7,000 cash and Iphone 3G worth P10,000 that were placed at the drawer of her table located in the first floor of the said establishment.

SPO4 Ernesto Panaligan and other elements of Investigation, Detection and Management Branch responded to the said incident.

Crime scene investigation was utilized to conduct latent print extraction possibly left by the suspect/s at the crime scene. —  (FREEMAN)
