LP bet for president in ABC poll crosses fingers

CEBU, Philippines - Although it's clear barangay Bulacao captain Raul Cabañero, the candidate of the Alayon party in the Association of Barangay Captains election for president, will win hands down, his rival barangay Linao captain Ofelia Ylanan, wife of City Councilor Val Ylanan of the Liberal Party, is hoping other village chiefs identified with Alayon will have a change of heart and vote for her instead.

Talisay City has 22 barangays and only seven barangays are on LP's side, namely, Linao, Lawaan I, Pooc, Biasong, San Roque, Cansojong, and Mohon.

She said if she wins, LP will certainly flood the barangays with projects and because of this she believes other village chiefs will cast their votes for her.

Aside from it, she would like to pursue her plan to put up a building for the ABC.

Ylanan said she and other barangay captains are on good terms.

City Councilor Ylanan said there is no assurance his wife will win and that he has already told his wife to accept defeat.

The ABC election in Talisay will be held tomorrow.

On other hand, Cabañero said if he wins, his objective is to unite all barangay captains for the benefit of residents. (FREEMAN)
