CEBU, Philippines - Only two barangay captains and with their councilmen who are allied with the Alayon party of first district Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas showed up to take their oaths of office before Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes at City Hall Wednesday morning.

Barangay captains identified with Alayon that took their oaths of office were Emma Cabiluna of Manipis and Vicente Bas of Mohon.

Talisay City is composed of barangays Biasong, Bulacao, Camp 4, Candulawan, Cansojong, Dumlog, Jaclupan, Lagtang, Lawaan I, Lawaan II, Lawaan III, Linao, Maghaway, Manipis, Mohon, Poblacion, Pooc, San Isidro, San Roque, Tabunok, Tanke, and Tapul.

In the last barangay elections, majority of the barangay captains allied with Alayon won over the Liberal Party’s administration of De los Reyes.

They are barangay captains Andrew Bacusmo of Cansojong, Joel Cabo of Lawa-an I, Ofelia Ylanan of Linao, Reynaldo Bas of Biasong, Bernard Balorio of Pooc, and Abraham Elzevier of San Roque.

De los Reyes, who is with LP expressed his disappointment with the number that showed up.

According to De los Reyes, there is no politics in the mass oath-taking.

“Nasubo lang ko sa wala pagtambong sa uban. Wala mani pamolitika ang akoa kay ang ilang pagpanumpa aron ma-silyohan lang ang ilang pagserbisyo sa katawhan,” De los Reyes said.

The barangay captains that attended the oath taking had already taken their oath before first district Representative Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas. (FREEMAN)
