CEBU, Philippines - In order to ensure that all business enterprises operating in Talisay City are properly accounted for and that all the trade and commerce transacted in the place are legal, an inspectorate team for business establishments has to be established.
Talisay City Councilor Doroteo S. Emit, chairman of the committee on labor, trade and industry, said there is a pressing need to create a business inspectorate team for all the business establishments to safeguard the rights of customers and the whole public as well because some establishments are operating without the necessary business permits.
“The City of Talisay is a fast growing city in terms of economic and infrastructure developments, relatively, business establishments are rapidly growing as well,†Emit said.
According to Emit, the “one time visit†by the business inspectorate team is time and cost efficient, ensures revenue collection, and cuts off red tape bureaucracy.
Under the proposal, the team shall be composed of the following offices - the business permit and licenses section, city health office, city engineering office, the office of the building official, city planning and development coordinator’s office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the city treasurer’s office.
The team is tasked to conduct inspection within three-days from the filing of application with the Business Permits and Licenses Section.
Upon inspection, the team immediately checks the compliance of the establishment and its operators to the standards and provisions of the National Building Code of the Philippines, Sanitation Code of the Philippines, Land Use& Zoning Ordinance, Tax Ordinance, Fire Code of the Philippines, and other related laws and Ordinances.
Also, the team will issue a Consolidated Inspection Report to the business operators reflecting deficiencies if there are any and inform the operators of the steps or process to address them. (FREEMAN)
