DepEd building in Danao inaugurated

CEBU, Philippines - The newly-constructed building of the Danao City Department of Education Division office was inaugurated last Friday in Danao City.

With the construction of the new bulding, after 10 years being a division and 10 months of waiting for the construction, finally DepEd Danao City Division has a home in the city.

The building, which cost P7.5 million to construct, was funded by the National Government thru the efforts of then Congressman and now Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “RED” H. Durano VI and Division Superintendent Rosalie M. Pasaol.

The inauguration last Friday was well-attended.

Present were DepEd regional director Carmelita Dulangon, assistant Schools Division Superintendent Roselier Gelig representing School Division Superintendent Arden Monisit, Division Superintendents of Bogo, Lapu-Lapu and Naga, and school heads of elementary and secondary schools in Danao City.

Also present to show their support to the academe were Bishop Emilio Bataclan, 5th district Congressman Joseph Felix “Ace” H. Durano, Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” D. Durano III, Vice Mayor Ramon “Red” H. Durano VI, city Councilors Carmen Remedios “Ivy” Durano-Meca, Jorge John Cane, Juvelina Enriquez, Joselisa Hermoso, Celso Meca, Rodrigo Giango, and Jerard “Jed” Almendras with department heads of Danao City hall.

Congressman Ace Durano pledged to allocate funding for the perimeter fence of the building, while the city government through Mayor Nito and Vice Mayor Red Durano and councilors promised that the electric, water, internet, and telephone bills will be charged to the city while Ivy Durano-Meca will take charge of the landscaping around the building.

Earlier, Vice Mayor Red Durano said the city government under the leadership of his father, Mayor Ramon “Red” Durano, has listed education as the top priority under his administration. (FREEMAN)
