CEBU, Philippines - A 29-year-old suspected thief is in critical condition after he was shot by unidentified man yesterday morning in sitio Colis, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.
Shot was Jayros Canseco Cardente alias “Cyrus Canseco Cardienteâ€, of barangay Tanke, Talisay City.
SPO4 Daniel Tarucan told The Freeman yesterday that Cardente sustained gunshot wound on the right part of his body and the bullet exited to his back and hit his right hand.
Cardente was taken to the Talisay City District Hospital but was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Cardente and another man were seen arguing at the old public market in Tabunok.
While arguing, the unidentified man allegedly pulled out a gun.
Cardente fled but the man gave chase and shot him in the back.
Recovered from the crime scene were an empty shell and a live bullet of a caliber .45 pistol.
Tarucan said Cardente has been linked to thefts in the city. He was once arrested and jailed but was released after posting bail.
Tarucan said Cardente and the gunwielder each other. (FREEMAN)
