CEBU, Philippines - Councilors identified with the Liberal Party in Talisay City council will obviously have committee chairmanships in the next administration but Vice Mayor-elect Romeo Villarante was silent on the possibility of opposition councilors chairing any committee.
Villarante said councilor-elect Aldin Diaz who has Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree will chair the committee on finance.
Councilor Val Ylanan, who is an engineer, will head the committee on infrastructure while Councilor Danny Caballero will be the chairman on the committee on peace and order.
Villarante said Caballero will focus on the legislative aspect.
Aside from it, he can also look after the needs of the city police such as vehicles, handheld radios, and other equipment.
The opposition in the council forms the majority and is identified with the Alayon Party.
Caballero told reporters he welcomes the chairmanship on the committee on peace and order and promised to do his best to help maintain peace and order. (FREEMAN)
