CEBU, Philippines - The police in Talisay city are on the alert these days following two robberies involving pawnshops in Cebu City and Naga City.
Superintendent Elmer Lim, officer-in-charge of Talisay City Police Station, told The Freeman yesterday the police set up checkpoints every now and then and often send a patrol car to barangay Tabunok where most business establishments are located.
Lim said he frequently tells establishments to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and hire guards.
Lim said records would show robbers mostly strike during the school opening and from September until Christmastime.
During the school opening most of the people have money for enrollment, Lim said.
He said, throughout the Christmas season, most people have money in their pockets, oftentimes sent by relatives from other places, as well as bonuses given by employers. (FREEMAN)
