CEBU, Philippines - Representatives from the government, labor, and management sectors will bond together in a Solidarity Run hosted by Tripartite Industrial Peace Council in Mandaue City today in celebration of Labor Day.
The seven kilometer run will start at 6:30 a.m. at the Innodata in M.C. Briones Street going to Patalinghug Street below the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge at the Lapu-Lapu City side. The event was divided into six sub-routes to TIPC member companies.
The run is aimed to promote harmonious relationship between labor and management in the city. TIPC organized the event supported by the city government.
Among the companies that will be joining the run today are the San Miguel Brewery, Coca-Cola, La Tondeña, Aboitiz Group of Companies, HJR International, Treasure Island, Clear Export Corp., Pacific Traders, Inc., and Shemberg.
The TIPC was created after the city, which is the industrial hub in Central Visayas, was plagued with labor strikes in the 1980s.
Since then the relationship between labor and management has improved, according to TIPC-7 vice chairman Vicmando Suliva. (FREEMAN)
